It is officially summer, and the Austin heat is settling in. Luckily, Austin is home to several unique swimming holes giving you the perfect way to cool off during the summer.

Deep Eddy Pool

Located in the center of Austin, Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest, human-made swimming pool in Texas. The spring-fed pool is open year-round to the public with activities to do in and around it like Deep Eddy Cabaret & Pool Burger.

Barton Springs Pool

Barton Springs is an underground, spring-fed pool located in the middle of Zilker Park. This 3-acre spring stays at a refreshing 68 degrees all year long making it the ideal place to swim during the summer in Austin.

Barton Creek Greenbelt

The Barton Creek Greenbelt is one of Austin’s greatest hidden treasures. A short half-mile hike will lead you to tranquil, stream waters in Twin Falls with plenty of rocky areas for climbing. Hike a mile further, and you’ll reach Sculpture Falls, another beautiful swimming hole on this trail.

Jacob’s Well Natural Area

Jacob’s Well is 40 minutes outside of Austin and is well worth the drive. The crisp, clear artesian spring is surrounded by rock ledges and towering trees providing a picturesque view while you swim. To swim, reservations are required to avoid overcrowding of this popular swimming hole.
