Austin keeps you occupied at all times, especially when it comes the outdoors. The city is filled with countless trails, pools, and parks, making it difficult ever to be bored. Summer has finally arrived, and it is time to experience some of Austin’s most popular outdoor treasures.

Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake is a beautiful reservoir that stretches 416 acres in downtown Austin, TX. With Austin’s warm climate, Lady Bird Lake is always full of many outdoor enthusiasts. There are several places along the lake to rent kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. Two of the most popular places to rent from are Congress Avenue Kayaks & Texas Rowing Center. Both spots are located along the lake, making it that much easier to access the water. Lady Bird Lake also offers a 10-mile hike and bike trail along the entire reservoir, providing you with a remarkable view of the Austin skyline.

River Place Nature Trail

River Place Nature Trail is a riverfront park full of wildlife views and waterfalls. Little Fern Trail, Panther Hollow Trail, and Canyon Trail make up this stunning and challenging hike. These trails allow you to escape civilization and lead you to climb along the beautiful riverside. Each path provides you with a different scenic view and range of difficulty. Canyon Trail is the longest option, with many areas of steep elevation. Panther Hollow Trail is an advanced trail, known for its extreme leg-burning workout due to its challenging uphill trek. Lastly, the Little Fern Trail provides the most serene views with its abundance of waterfalls. This trail is great for a moderate, picturesque hike.

Barton Creek Green Belt

The Barton Creek Green Belt is one of Austin’s beloved treasures for biking, hiking, swimming, climbing and much more. Located in South-Central Austin, the Barton Creek Green Belt has been named one of Texas’s top hiking trails with more than 12 miles of beautiful trails. There are multiple entrance points along the creek to help you access the Green Belt, including Trailhead, Spyglass, and Barton Hills. The Barton Creek Green Belt is full of different activities, leading to why it is one of the most hiked trails in Austin.

Zilker Park

Zilker Park is one of the most well-known parks in Austin recommended for any tourist visiting. The variety of activities Zilker provides is why it is one of the most event-filled parks in all of Austin. Whether you are swimming in the Barton Springs Pool, hiking the Lady Bird Lake trails, or enjoying music at Blues on the Green, Zilker Park will always keep you busy in the summer.
